Major natural stone restoration of the roof and facade, supported by a €100,000 grant from the Deutsche Stiftung Denkmalschutz. A showcase of modern conservation techniques applied to historic Bentheimer sandstone.
The Stone Behind the Landmark
Bentheimer sandstone is a fine-grained quartz sandstone with a compressive strength of 78 MPa and excellent frost resistance — tested to EN 12371. Its warm golden colour comes from natural iron oxide inclusions.
